About the Team

D&R Racing began in 1994 when Dwayne Sleight (Driver) and Ronnie Murphey (Owner) decided to embark on a racing adventure. The teams first purchase was a VERY used street stock. The number seventy-one was selected by wife, Jennifer Sleight (chief cook for the team). This car was operated for half a season at Corpus Christi Speedway. Needless to say, the driver needed more speed and action. The next endeavor was the construction of an IMCA modified. The IMCA modified class has come a long way since the early days. The team has run mostly in the South Texas area, including: South Texas Speedway, Rio Grande Speedway, Texas Dirt Speedway, Shady Oaks Speedway, Corpus Christi Speedway (track champion 1998), and recently at I-37 Speedway. The pit crew includes Ronnie Murphey (owner and grievance coordinator), Dwayne Sleight (all other duties not accounted for), Jennifer Sleight (cook and support coordinator), Jaycee Sleight (daughter and chief mud scraper).
